Moldova was once the leading wine producer in the former USSR, and this craft is still practised today, making it one of the top ten wine producing countries in the world. In fact, the wines are of good quality and varied in flavour, made from common grapes and some which are particular to Moldova, and most vineyards welcome visitors.
